Why VOCA - Building an Evidence Base for Opera Careers
Decisions about how to support and sustain opera careers are often made without a robust evidence base. While much is said anecdotally about the realities of the profession, there is limited verified data to guide policy, funding, and training. Without robust data, decision-makers cannot target support effectively.
VOCA seeks to fill this gap by gathering systematic information on the professional lives of singers in the UK — creating a foundation for informed discussion, practical interventions, and future research.
